Where is your gym?

3

My gym for private training sessions is in Glen Park, San Francisco. It’s very close to Noe Valley, Bernal Heights, and Sunnyside. There’s ample street parking and I’m just a few short blocks from the freeway and BART, making it easy to access from any San Francisco neighborhood.

I hold group circuit training classes at the Soluna Yoga space in Glen Park, at Diamond and Chenery. It’s even closer to BART and the freeway with ample street parking.

I’m new to strength training and am a bit intimidated. What should I expect?

4

I believe that strength training is accessible to everyone. Starting a new strength training routine doesn’t need to be intimidating or scary. During our introductory call, we’ll discuss your exercise experience and areas of interest. Based on your goals and experience, I’ll develop workouts that teach you the fundamental movement patterns and exercises. We’ll progress slowly as you master proper form and build foundational strength. As you get stronger and more comfortable, I’ll add new exercises, more weight, or new equipment to further develop your strength, challenge your muscles, and keep your routine interesting. Each training session is tailored to your needs and fitness level, so you won’t get pushed beyond your abilities.

Circuit training is a form of exercise that builds cardiovascular endurance and strength by moving through multiple resistance exercises quickly. My circuit training classes are designed to be full body workouts. We typically move through 8 or 9 stations/exercises for 3 sets, spending 40 seconds working hard, with 20 seconds of rest while you transition between stations. Moving quickly between stations keeps your heart rate elevated allowing you to work your cardiovascular system, while each station is designed to develop strength in a specific muscle group.

My circuit training class is great for folks at any fitness and experience level. You can choose the weight and pace at each station, allowing you to tailor the workout to your level. I keep the classes small so I can monitor each client and ensure you’re executing each move with proper form.

What’s a circuit training class and how do I know if I can do it?

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all programs or modality specific workouts. I think each training session should be tailored to your specific needs, fitness level, and likes/dislikes. The best program is the one that you enjoy and gets you the results you want. To achieve that, we’ll work together to continually adjust and progress as needed.

I’m well versed in many exercise modalities and my gym is stocked with plenty of toys. There’s multiple ways to get results, so there’s no reason to force yourself into a program you don’t enjoy or doesn’t address your specific needs.
